Frequently Asked Questions

Will my premium go up?

No. Filing a roof claim is considered an 'Act of God' claim. You were not responsible for the damage that occurred. If you burned your kitchen down for example, that would be your responsibility and your premiums would increase. But roof damage is caused by weather through no fault of your own.

I can't see any damage

Normally you can't see any damage from the ground. You may eventually see some small interior stains on the ceiling. Often the damage looks minor, but serious issues develop if you don't address it quickly. Your Sales Rep will inspect the roof for damage, then your insurance company will send out an inspector to verify.

I recently changed my insurance company

The issue is: did you have insurance when the damage occurred? It doesn't matter who your insurance company is today, but who it was when the storm occurred. That company is responsible to fix the damage, even if you are no longer a customer of theirs.

My deductible is too high

We can work with you in different ways if you have a high deductible (for example, financing). Ask your Sales Rep and they will go over the options.

Why do I have to pay my deductible?

The deductible is the portion you are by law responsible to pay. The insurance company offers us an amount to fix the damage (and this amount is often low to begin with), then the deductible is removed right off the top of this settlement. So often there is not enough money to fix the damages unless you pay your full deductible. Also, be aware in Texas recent changes to the law have made it a crime not to pay the deductible!

I don't know what my deductible is (or what my policy number is)

This information can be found on what is known as the 'declaration pages, the first two or three pages of your policy (the rest of it is usually boilerplate). If you cannot find your pages, the policy number can found on any premium invoice. If you can't find an invoice call your agent for this information (or your sales rep can call on your behalf).

I will call my insurance company or agent and file the claim

I will call my insurance company or agent and file the claim

You are free to do that. However, be aware that you will be asked questions regarding the claim right away. If you don't know the an- swers or respond incorrectly, you may lower the changes of your claim being approved. We recommend you let us file the claim on your behalf to ensure that it is handled promptly and correctly.

What is your estimate?

Typically we work for insurance proceeds. Your only out-of-pocket is your deductible. There is no chance you will have to pay more than this, and you are assured that the work is done correctly. In many instances, we can even offer upgrades at no additional cost.

I see you're a General Contractor. Can you do other work for me?

Titan began as a high-end general contractor over twenty years ago. Over time, our focus has shifted to doing work paid for by insur- ance companies. We no longer perform work paid for directly by homeowners, but will do any work that is part of your claim.

We want to wait until storm season is over (or for some other reason)

If your sales rep has verified damage and we have a valid storm date in your area, it is advisable to file a claim immediately. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to demonstrate a clear recent cause of damage. Furthermore, damage to the roof may worsen and cause interior water leaks, among other issues.

I don't currently have insurance

If you had insurance within the last two years we can possibly still file a claim. Otherwise, we can offer attractive financing options to enable you to replace your roof.

We already filed a claim and it was denied

Claims are routinely denied for all sorts of reasons, many of them illegitimate or based on partial or incorrect assessments of damage. Your sales rep will examine the damage and discuss your options. We are experts at turning denials into approvals!

We already filed a claim and spent the ACV check

We can still get your roof replaced but you will have to replace the amount of the check. If you do not have these funds immediately available, we can provide financing options, just ask your sales rep.

We have an ACV policy

An ACV policy can be difficult to work with. However, we have many years experience with these policies and can discuss options. In general, you will have to pay for the depreciation portion of the claim in addition to any deductible you are responsible for.

We can't afford to pay our entire deductible

Not a problem. Just let your sales rep know and they will provide you with several options!
